  • 60-60 Experiment
Sunday, March 7th, we challenged everyone to do a 60-60 Experiment. For the next 60 days, try to stay in continuous, honest conversation with God, willing to do his will moment by moment. To remain in him. If you missed Sunday you may want to listen to the podcast!

At least every 60 minutes for 60 days, stop and recall, “God is with me right now. He loves me and desires to give me good things – better than I can IMAGINE,” and let that propel you to ask God, “Show me your will this next moment. I want to be willing to do your will as an act of love toward you.”

Suggestion: Get a watch or beeper or some kind of alarm that can go with you that will beep every sixty minutes as a reminder to stay connected. Put sticky notes on your mirrors, computer screen, and in your car to remind you. “Re: 60-60”. There are 60-60 stickers you can pick up at Momentum.

The goal is to stay consciously aware all through your day that God is with you and desires a loving, trusting relationship. Try to turn your thoughts back to God throughout the day and as often as you can—as you work, talk it over with God. At every interaction ask, “What do you want me to say?” At every decision consider, “What’s your will here?”

Journal or blog your discoveries each day as you’re doing this. The highs, lows, ups, and downs. Incorporate a reading plan into your moments each day.

As we live in right relationship with God, he will guide us to live in increasingly life-giving ways with each other. We are not meant to take this Journey alone. So, I want to encourage you to find 2 or 3 people to do this experiment with you! Meet weekly to share, challenge, and hold each other accountable. You need Running Partners! There are Running Partner cards available at the 60-60 board at Momentum to give you guidance.

You may also want to read the book Soul Revolution by John Burke as you do the experiment. I would also encourage you to check out www.soulrevolution.net.

Let’s learn from each other, hold each other accountable, and grow together! Join the 60-60 experiment!

  • Mission Trip
Momentum will be taking our first international mission trip to Mexico from June 11 – 18. Bethshean Mexico Mission operates the only Christian nursing home in Mexico, and they also have a youth camp, three local pastors working with five churches, and a clinic/hospital currently under construction. We would love to take a team of 12 people there this summer. If you are interested in hearing more about the trip, and possibly even interested in going, please plan to attend a short informational meeting after either service on Sunday, January 24th.

  • Community Christmas Drive
Momentum participated in this last year and Denese Rodgers, the director, said, "if it wasn't for Momentum we would not have reached all the families we needed to assist." Let's do it again this year! The program is designed for you to sponsor a family for Christmas. What does that mean? You will be responsible for purchasing gifts for children in the home who are 16 years of age and younger. If you also wish to provide gifts for the adults in the home, you may do so, but it is not required. We also ask that you contact your adopted families at least 3 weeks prior to Christmas and set up a time to deliver the gifts.

This is something you can do as a family, with another family, or as a life group. You may register through their website, www.co.henry.ga.us/ConnectingHenry, or call their office, 770.288.6221 and leave a message with your name and phone number. You will receive information about a family and what their specific needs are. Let’s get Out There this Christmas!

  • Offices have moved!
We've now officially moved our offices to the facility on Westridge, so we will no longer be at McDonough Christian Church throughout the week. Stop by the Westridge location and say hello!

But if you yearn for a deeper connection with other women, long for genuine worship or ache for a closer walk with God, then join us for CRAVE on Friday, August 14 from 7:00-9:00pm at Momentum. Crave is a gathering for women ages 18-118.

  • Momentum Vision Gatherings
On June 17 and June 20 Momentum will be having a Vision Gathering, where we will be talking about where we are as a church, where we stand with our current facility, and the possibility of purchasing our current building. You DO NOT have to attend both gatherings, we just wanted to provide two options. Childcare and refreshments will be provided at each gathering.

  • 10.14.08 - Men in White support group
In a culture saturated with sexual imagery, sexual freedom, and readily accessible adult material, it's no wonder that sexual addiction has become commonplace. The church is no exception. A 2007 poll found that 50% of Christian men and 20% of Christian women struggled with addiction to pornography. At Momentum, we know we need to face this onslaught of sexual impurity head-on, and offer hope to those enslaved to sexual addiction. On Saturday, October 25th, we will be inaugurating a support group for men caught in sexual addiction, called Men in White. It will be a place of confession, healing, accountability, and hope. For more information, please contact info@momentumcc.org. Sexual addiction is not something to be faced alone!

  • Middle School Conference
Christian Youth of Georgia is hosting a middle school conference at Woodland Christian Camp. The conference is called XLR8 and is October 17-19, 2008. Our own Bart Stone is the main speaker and worship is being led by the Chris Coleman Band. The cost is $75 per person and $12 if you want a t-shirt. We would love to take a great group from Momentum. It starts at 6:00 PM on Friday and ends at 10:30 on Sunday. You must register by Sunday, September 14th. There is a sign up sheet at the Pipeline or you can email Bart or Jodi Stone. We are also looking for some adult sponsors to go with us. Don't miss this! You can check out the website: www.cyga.org.

Momentum is partnering this Christmas with Connecting Henry, a non-profit organization that aids local families through their annual Community Christmas Program. Community Christmas is an effort to serve families by purchasing Christmas gifts for children in the home who are 16 years old or younger. Participants can also provide a Christmas dinner and/or gifts for the adults in the home. We have started a new series entitled “Isn’t She Beautiful?” We always think of a bride on her wedding day as the most beautiful person in the world. Throughout the Bible, the church is often referred to as the bride of Christ. Although the reality is that often the church has gotten off track from the mission and has looked very ugly to the rest of the world. But there is nothing like the local church when the local church is working right. When the church is doing what Christ has called her to do and be, you just can’t help but say, “Isn’t she beautiful?”

We are beginning a new message series entitled, “What’s in a Name?” When you think of God, what picture pops in your head: a judge, a general, an old grandfather? For many of us those pictures have been formed by our experiences, our past, things people have told us, things we’ve seen through media, and sometimes their just our best guesses. Due to this, our view of God is sometimes not true to who he really is. Over the next 5 weeks we are going to try to form a true picture of who God is through the names he is called throughout the Bible. God doesn’t want us guessing anymore. The amazing thing is he’s the one trying to get our attention. And if we let him show us all of who he is, we can become all of who we were meant to be.
